We are still in the hotel. And, unless we secure the VA appraisal by 1pm tomorrow, we will be here for at least another week 🙁
Ugh. We are both feeling pretty defeated and frustrated right now. But, I did spend Friday in the district with a childhood friend while waiting for Erin to get off work. I stepped out just in time for this beautiful sunset:
In other news…Erin has crappy days off – Wednesday and Thursday. So that means we had to spend our last day off together doing something interesting. So, we headed south to Thomas Jefferson’s house, Monticello.
It was interesting, however, that the tour guide kept referring to the workers as “enslaved people” and mentioning this very quietly as if almost an after thought. No, lady – they were SLAVES. They had no freedom, and they worked sunrise to sunset because they had no other option. It’s OK to admit it – not America’s best moment. But, that doesn’t mean that Thomas Jefferson isn’t an important person in American history.
I took lots of pictures, but for some reason they are not loading. So you are stuck with one of me for now 😉
Hopefully we will be in our house by the end of the week. But, in the meantime, I hope everyone is having a happy start to the holidays, and we will try and find the spirit where we can…
