On Monday night, all the ladies from my group went to a henna salon. Henna is very popular in Qatar- much more popular than in Jordan. It was really amazing to watch the henna artists FREE HAND draw these designs.
The henna must sit on the skin for about an hour, or until it is entirely dry and flakes off. The final result is an orange/brown color. Then overnight, the color darkens. Here is the difference in color on one of my co-workers arms:
The Qataris I work with love that I got henna done and have been giving me tips on how to make it last longer…from rubbing it with olive oil, to not washing my hands for a week…the suggestions are endless!
Back to work! Two days until I’m homeward bound!
