In Memory

On  May 6 my family held a Wake in honor of my Grandfather. Sadly, the camera battery died shortly into the afternoon. But, here are a few pictures of the beautiful photo and flower display that was put up to share with everyone who came.

There are pictures from his childhood, early marriage, the kids growing up, and grand kids. A really beautiful and simple set-up that a photo can not do justice of. The tulips came from a local farmer’s market – and were perfect: simple, bright, and elegant.

My Grandfather had expressed worry that no one would be around to attend services for him. But, that was proved wrong. Family that I had not met before drove down from British Columbia and people that my grandfather had worked with  over the 30 years that he was a Naval Architect were also there. Even his dental surgeon was in attendance!

I have to say that I loved getting to meet new family – and hopefully we can keep in touch – there are some very interesting people in my family 🙂 While we all wish it could have been under better circumstances –  I am glad we had the opportunity to all come together.

After the Wake I stayed in Seattle a few days longer with my Grandma. I love my Grandma – in case any of you didn’t know that 🙂
