We are getting things set up, and looking like a real home!
Monday Verizon set up our internet, cable, and (gasp!) home phone. Since I will be working from a home office, I need to have a phone line that can be billed to my work.
Yesterday, we finally got our washer and dyer! We spend the evening doing load after load of laundry that had piled up.
Exciting stuff, I know.
I have spent the last two weekends putting together IKEA furniture while Erin is at work.
In the last week, I have put together:
1 couch
2 bookcases
1 TV stand
1 comfy chair
Here is some photo evidence:
Step 1: Remove cat from box.
Step 2: Put together couch frame.
Step 3: Admire your hard work (two hours later….)
Step 4: Enjoy a real living room!
No matter who you are…
With so much going into setting up the house, we decided to forgo a tree this year. So, I did a little outdoor tree decorating. I’ve seen people put Christmas balls on outside trees in the past, and I’ve always thought it was such a cute idea. So, I copied!
Plus, who needs a tree when you can have this:
In o ther news…
We had lunch with Rep. Lynn Woolsey yesterday at the congressional dining hall. We got dressed up in suits and dresses, but have no photos to show for it, as we were informed by many a sign to “Please refrain from taking photos”. Oh, well. It was awesome spending time in the capital – and enjoying one of the many benefits of living in this area.
We have a couple of fun days coming up this weekend as well. Tonight we are headed to Adams Morgan for dinner and drinks with my old college roommate Stephanie and her boyfriend Shelby (they helped us move!) and tomorrow night is Erin’s work holiday party. Sunday we are going to a family holiday party of a Peace Corps friend. Should be a busy but fun couple of days!
