As an avid Democrat, Erin’s Dad is involved in local government. He is especially active in the letter carrier union (he is the Sonoma County rep – or something along those lines anyway…) Through this work he met Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey. Over the years, Lynn and The Parrs became friends, and she developed an interest in Erin’s career in the Navy. The congresswoman was even the celebrity appearance at our reception last November 🙂
This past Saturday, she took us out for a lunch to celebrate our wedding. I figure, the longer we can carry out the celebrating, the better! We went to a fabulous little Italian place in Petaluma, CA – a little wine town in Sonoma County. I had salmon ravioli that was AMAZING, and I believe that halibut risotto was enjoyed by Lynn, and Jeff and Sylvia.
Our drive from Monterey to Erin’s home town, Santa Rosa, takes us through San Francisco, and across the Golden Gate Bridge. While most of the time, the city is thick with fog – to the point that the bridge is totally obscured – we were lucky this past weekend, and had crystal clear skies and amazing views and we headed up for our lunch with the congress lady 🙂
Since the weather was so beautiful, we stopped to have dinner in Sausalito. I had scallops, and Erin had swordfish – as we enjoyed beautiful views of the city from our table. (Apparantly I need to go eat dinner – I have food on the brain!)
