We had another amazing day in Vermont – complete with some of our favorite things: quaint towns, solar panels, and wine tasting!
After we woke up an hour later than planned – thanks to setting the alarm to PM instead of AM (whoops!) we had breakfast, coffee, and then headed to Middlebury. We arrived at Middlebury College just in time to tag along to on the morning campus tour. My language nerd was showing when I got over-the-top excited about the “language houses” they have – basically “immersion” dorms for students studying a foreign language. Students can choose to live in a language house, where when inside the house you are only allowed to speak the foreign language you are studying (how RAD is that!?).
After Middlebury we headed north to Burlington, passing a solar farm, and stopping at Shelburne Winery along the way. We learned that VT grows a couple of hybrid grapes (originally designed in Minnesota) that are hearty and can withstand the very cold temperatures.
And then we made one more stop at Magic Hat Brewery 🙂
We finally made it to Burlington and headed up Church street to check out some of the local shops featured in our Buy Local book.
and a coffee shop (who doesn’t want to drink lemonade squeezed by unicorns!?)
We then made our way through some of the neighborhoods and stopped for some frozen yogurt.
Finally, we enjoyed this amazing sunset on Lake Champlain before making our way back to Brandon. A perfect, perfect end to the day.
